Session Deliverables & Facilitation Guides

Kickoff & Logistics (5 Minutes)

• Goal: Welcome attendees, review the schedule, display the QR code, and explain the embedded Google Form entry method.
• Ethics Connection: Frame active participation as part of social work professional development and lifelong learning (NASW Code of Ethics 3.02).

Block 1: Institutional Guidance & Faculty Accessibility

• Briefing (15 Minutes):
  • Distinguish between administrative logistics (class schedules, paperwork) and developmental role modeling.
  • Discuss how rapid communication (under 24 hours) reduces anxiety and builds self-efficacy.
  • Connect developmental support to CSWE Competency 1 (Demonstrate Ethical and Professional Behavior).
• Breakout (7 Minutes):
  • Prompt attendees to complete Section 1 of the form on their mobile device.
  • Focus Question: How can faculty transition routine office hours away from procedural questions toward career visioning and praxis?

Block 2: The Non-Traditional & Remote Student Experience

• Briefing (15 Minutes):
  • Address systemic barriers facing adult learners, working parents, and remote students.
  • Examine the low margin of error for non-traditional students and the phenomenon of acting as their own “blockers.”
  • Connect tailored support to CSWE Competency 2 (Advance Human Rights and Social, Economic, and Environmental Justice).
• Breakout (7 Minutes):
  • Prompt attendees to complete Section 2 of the form.
  • Focus Question: What specific administrative obstacles can we automate or eliminate so non-traditional students don’t have to act as their own blockers?

Block 3: Near-Peer Support & Horizontal Networks

• Briefing (15 Minutes):
  • Detail horizontal and nested mentoring models (advanced students mentoring incoming cohorts).
  • Highlight how mutual learning distributes mentoring responsibilities while developing leadership capacity.
  • Discuss reciprocal benefits for both mentors and mentees.
• Breakout (7 Minutes):
  • Prompt attendees to complete Section 3 of the form.
  • Focus Question: How can we structure near-peer mentoring so advanced students receive academic credit or leadership development without adding unpaid emotional labor?

Block 4: Insights & Live Q&A (19 Minutes)

• Real-Time Data Synthesis: Switch screen display using the Live Form Summary Link to showcase live participant submissions across Blocks 1, 2, and 3.
• Discussion: Lead an interactive Q&A synthesizing audience insights into concrete policy recommendations for academic and field settings.
