Big Picture Framework
Use this template to sort through outside developments, policy shifts, or official updates. This guide helps our neighborhood look past the noise and figure out what changes actually mean for our local area.
1. The Big Picture Challenge
- What change or ongoing development are we looking at? (Examples include city zoning updates, changes to commuter routes, or the physical expansion of large outside organizations).
- Where is this coming from? (Examples include city hall, outside corporate development groups, or regional planning authorities).
- What is the official timeline or target date?
2. The Pitch and the Messaging
- What is the official story or angle being used? (List the specific promotional talking points or slogans being shared in city notices or media stories).
- What problem is this change claimed to solve?
- What details are missing? (Note the distinct gaps between official promises and the everyday reality of our nearby streets).
3. The Action Plan for Our Local Area
- How does this directly impact our ability to take care of our own neighborhood? (Consider whether this change reshapes our shared public spaces, affects neighbor privacy, or changes who controls the immediate block).
- What are the early signs to look out for on our streets and rural roads?
- What simple, proactive steps can everyday neighbors take to strengthen their nearby homes? (Connect this analysis directly to face-to-face talks using the isolated link for the Neighbor Communication Guide).
